Kay Kay and Pa’s Memorial Day Visit

Kay Kay and Pa’s Memorial Day Visit

Kay Kay and Pa came to visit over Memorial Day and they watched Caroline while Mike and I went to Nashville for a long weekend getaway. It was wonderful because we got to spend time with them and celebrate my dad’s birthday and they got to play with Sugar Bear all on their own. They arrived on Tuesday, May 22nd. I got them from the airport and we all went and picked up Caroline from her classroom. They couldn’t believe…

Nashville Getaway Weekend

Nashville Getaway Weekend

Back in January, Mike and I planned a getaway weekend to Nashville because Mike went there a few years ago and swore I would love it–I had never been. He wanted us to go there together so badly so we had to make that happen. We flew my parents up to DC to watch Sugar Bear and I was sneaky and invited our good friends Derek and Stacy (who live in NJ) to join us for part of our trip–a…

Weekend Top Ten: Royal Wedding, Oakridge Spring Fling, and a Water Table

Weekend Top Ten: Royal Wedding, Oakridge Spring Fling, and a Water Table

We enjoyed the very best weather this weekend and took full advantage by playing outside a LOT. Caroline is growing and changing so much and it it clear we are in for one fun summer. This little girl loves water and playgrounds and Popsicles. What more do you want from summer besides those things?? Highlights of our weekend, in chronological order: The Royal Wedding: Oh yes, we watched it. With fascinators on, or course, and baked treats. Caroline even joined…

Mother’s Day 2018

Mother’s Day 2018

We celebrated Mother’s Day on Saturday this year, because I was flying out to Austin, Texas for the Travelin’ Chicks gathering later that afternoon. Mike planned a wonderful day and it was made even sweeter by the fact that we knew Little Peanut was growing bigger and bigger at 10 weeks along. The weather was perfect, so we headed out bring and early to DC’s newest hotspot–the Wharf! We started out with coffee and delicious biscuits. Sugar Bear was skeptical…

Springtime with our New Walker Girl

Springtime with our New Walker Girl

Spring is here! Spring is here! The robins are out, the coats are hung up, the windows are open…FINALLY, at last! And nothing is more exciting than having the weather turn beautiful with a brand new walker in the house. On April 27th, at age 13 months, Caroline officially walked! Mike and I got a video of her blazing a path in the Toddler I room at daycare. She was so proud of herself! Oh she had taken a step…

Peanut, Peanut Butter

Peanut, Peanut Butter

Trying peanut butter for the first time has become a THING. At first it wasn’t a thing. And then kids everywhere got allergies. So then it was all WAIIIT until age two. No, three. Safer. Now it’s all try it right away! 4 months! 8 months! The longer you wait, the more likely they will have an allergy! Sigh. I don’t eat a lot of peanut butter and never thought to go out and buy it to conduct the “is…

An Egg-cellent Easter

An Egg-cellent Easter

This Easter was one for the books. We had a wonderful Easter weekend! I got out of work early on Good Friday and came home to spend time with this face, who was spending the day with her daddy since daycare was on Spring Break. We enjoyed a beautiful day on Saturday. Warm, sunny, and windy. We headed to a neighborhood event in the park that featured kite flying, egg rolling, giant bubble blowing fun. Afterwards, we headed to Chick…

Sugar Bear the Polar Bear

Sugar Bear the Polar Bear

The day my family flew back to Florida, the weather was cold and rainy. As the day went on, it also got colder and the wind picked up. The air smelled like snow. Then I learned that snow was in the forecast for the very next day–March 21. Up to 6 inches, in fact. We woke up the next morning to a Winter Wonderland. Add believe it or not, this was the most snow we got for the entire season….

Celebrating Caroline’s First Birthday (Week)

Celebrating Caroline’s First Birthday (Week)

When your little girl turns one on a Wednesday, you (of course) celebrate the day she arrived. And then you throw her a birthday party a few days later, on Saturday, the Official Day of Birthday Parties. But since you have family in town for a week, it winds up being more of an all-week long sort of celebration. No complaints here! Here is how the fun week broke down… Sunday: Here is Sugar Bear on Sunday (Kay Kay’s birthday!),…

Caroline’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Caroline’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Back in January, I just knew we were going to have a Classic Winnie the Pooh-themed first birthday party for Caroline. It just fit. First of all, we had been listening to the Winnie the Pooh stories on Audible for the last few months and they are fantastic. They are dramatized readings and are fabulously done. The voices! The characters! Just so good–Mike and I both adore listening to these stories. We typically listen in Caroline’s nursery as she has…
