Five Years.

Five Years.

On April 18, Mike and I celebrated our five year wedding anniversary. Actually, scratch that…on our 5 year wedding anniversary, which happened to fall on a Saturday, Mike taught his online class for Georgetown from about 8:30 to 3:30 and I was on my own, outnumbered, with the wild ones–Caroline, Vivi, and Finnegan. (Finny gets a shout out in this category because he has been just so bad lately.) I am not complaining…it’s just a timing thing! Mike loves teaching…

Caroline’s Third Birthday Weekend

Caroline’s Third Birthday Weekend

Lead up to Caroline’s Birthday Caroline’s third birthday happened to fall on a Saturday: March 14, 2020. We planned a fun birthday party with all of our favorite people. We sent the invites in early February and had been collecting birthday party supplies each weekend since then. We wanted “Yee Haw and Yippee, Caroline’s Turning Three!” to be a fantastic time. Kay Kay and Pa booked their flights. Mike and I made stick ponies and a tissue paper campfire. We…

Kay Kay and Pa Take Over the Spead Sister Squad

Kay Kay and Pa Take Over the Spead Sister Squad

So while Mike and I were gallivanting around Grand Cayman, the Spead sisters were at home enjoying time bonding with Kay Kay and Pa. We are so grateful that my parents were willing to take on this job–caring for a 2.5 year old and 14 month old is no small feat. Especailly for a week! Plus I left them a 6 page document full of notes, so no pressure, right?? 🙂 We face timed the girls enough to know that…

Turning the Big 4-0!

Turning the Big 4-0!

The Big 4-0 was looming…all year, it felt like it was there hiding, waiting for me. And then suddenly, here it was. Four decades…that’s a long time! I was excited for it (I am one of those weird people who loves my birthday) and also at the same time, I do not feel 40. I felt more like a solid 28. Except do feel like I have gotten 40 wonderful years of experiences under my belt—travels, building friendships, growing family,…

Kearney Christmas 2019

Kearney Christmas 2019

Christmas was wonderful and magical and relaxed this year. Turns out that traveling with a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old isn’t too bad when you go places that already have everything you need for them, haha! Also, we broke it up into a few little segments…we flew into Orlando early Friday morning (December 20) and spent a half day walking around Disney Springs, then headed to Vero Beach for Kearney Christmas. On Sunday (December 22), we packed up and drove to…

Christmassy Events 2019

Christmassy Events 2019

The Christmas season snuck up on us this year. We went from Halloween (in Florida) straight into November and celebrating Vivi’s birthday, then packing for Thanksgiving in Alpharetta, and then we came home and boom–December was upon us. Knowing we had a short time to celebrate the season, since we were heading back to Florida on December 20th, Mike and I decided we better get to it! First up, the first weekend in December, on the Agenda of All the…

Celebrating Vivi’s First Birthday

Celebrating Vivi’s First Birthday

Happy Birthday, Vivienne Kathleen! How are you already ONE?!? I feel both like this year flew by and like you’ve been in our family all along. We celebrated our special little lady all week. Kay Kay and Pa flew into town to join in the festivities. We hosted the Betancourts for a special birthday dinner and Vivi got to try actual cake (carrot) on the big day. Surprising no one, she loved it! We spent her actual birthday at an…

Vivi’s First Birthday Flamingle Party

Vivi’s First Birthday Flamingle Party

We celebrated Vivi Girl with a big flamingle fete one day after she turned 12 months old and she (plus her Big Sister) had the grandest time! We made her a Funfetti smash cake, we played flamingo-themed games, and our house was packed to the gills with well-wishers for the Birthday Girl. We specifically requested no gifts, but a few people brought some, and the ones they gave were just adorable–flamingo themed books, dresses, dolls, etc. She even received her…

Caroline’s First Day of 3 Days Preschool 2019

Caroline’s First Day of 3 Days Preschool 2019

Caroline had an EXCELLENT first day back at Fairlington Preschool! She is going three days a week (in the Lilac Room) and her teachers seem super sweet (and also no-nonsense, which I love). She is with nine other kids, a few of whom she knows from the Yellow Room last year. She goes from nine to noon, which means our mornings have a bit more hustle than we are used to! It is a great setting though and I know…

Labor Day Weekend 2019: Fun in Florida

Labor Day Weekend 2019: Fun in Florida

We spent an unprecedented Labor Day Weekend in St. Pete Beach with the best blend of both the Betancourts and the Kearneys, since part of the reason for our visit was celebrating Matt and Tommie’s soon-to-arrive baby boy with a beautiful baby shower. We were at first not all all worried about Hurricane Dorian, then we were really worried, then we went back to not being worried again. It was quite the yo-yo but worked out in our favor in…
