Vivi’s First Birthday Flamingle Party

Vivi’s First Birthday Flamingle Party

We celebrated Vivi Girl with a big flamingle fete one day after she turned 12 months old and she (plus her Big Sister) had the grandest time! We made her a Funfetti smash cake, we played flamingo-themed games, and our house was packed to the gills with well-wishers for the Birthday Girl. We specifically requested no gifts, but a few people brought some, and the ones they gave were just adorable–flamingo themed books, dresses, dolls, etc. She even received her first purse (which she loved!)

Here is the invite for the party:

And here are some shots of the party prep, with my trusty helper Caroline right by my side:

And the pinnacle of every First Birthday–the Smash Cake! Caroline’s was made out of veggies…Vivi’s was Funfetti. There are some perks to being the second child!

Kay Kay designed the perfect tribute to Caroline, in celebration of her sweet bond with her sister:

These posters didn’t photograph well but they actually looked cute at the party:

I was super excited about the games. Even though they were pretty lame, the kids really got into them! One game was a relay race where the little ones ran to a lawn ornament flamingo, placed a necklace around its neck, ran back to the starting line, and tagged the next person to go. This was adorable to watch since kids ages 1-6 played and they all had their own style ;).

The second game was where the kids sit in a circle and all hold a sheet (like Parachute in gym class) and when the music starts, you bounce a stuffed flamingo on the sheet. When the music stops, they’re supposed to hold the sheet still and let the flamingo “sleep.” Then it gets loud and crazy again when you wake up the flamingo. Well, you can imagine how well the rule following went…not that it mattered. Most of the party guests were 1-2 years old and they looooved it–and not just the little guys!

Everyone had a good time, but probably Kay Kay and Roman most of all 🙂

After games, it was time to sing to the Birthday Girl and let her loose to demolish her Smash Cake. She was pretty pumped about that:

After the cake, she got to tear into some gifts:

Happy Birthday, Sweet Vivi Girl!

We love you so.
