Celebrating Vivi’s First Birthday

Celebrating Vivi’s First Birthday

Happy Birthday, Vivienne Kathleen! How are you already ONE?!? I feel both like this year flew by and like you’ve been in our family all along. We celebrated our special little lady all week. Kay Kay and Pa flew into town to join in the festivities. We hosted the Betancourts for a special birthday dinner and Vivi got to try actual cake (carrot) on the big day. Surprising no one, she loved it! We spent her actual birthday at an indoor playground jumping in the ball pit and laughing going down the slides 1000 times. The birthday girl had a blast 🙂

Good morning, Birthday Girl! Here’s our big one year old:

Here she is chasing some of the birthday balloons:

Then time to get dressed in her best birthday onesie and off to the Indoor Playground!

The cutest part of the birthday lead up was when I took Caroline to HomeGoods to select a present for Vivi. She actually pulled down several toys from the shelf and picked one out–and made sure to tell me that she was selecting something that Vivi would like, not something that “a big kid like me would like.” She actually did a pretty good job on the gift selection for her little sister:

When we got home, Caroline insisted on wrapping the gift herself, selecting the paper (navy and white striped) and bow color (which she insisted be black…out of 15 other color options, black was the choice because “it’s Vivi’s favorite.” Umm…ok…) Then she used an entire roll of Scotch tape to make it all stick together. It took every fiber of my Type A being to let this slide. Then she insisted on hiding it “down low” in her closet until Vivi’s actual birthday. I asked why there and her answer was “because if I hide it up high, I can’t reach it!” Fair enough. Here is the finished product, in its hiding spot:

When Vivi opened it on her big day, she did love it, and it was adorable because Caroline was beaming with pride. But I think Vivi’s favorite present was this little gem–her first purse!

At dinner, we celebrated the Birthday Girl surrounded by family, singing Happy Birthday and feeding her carrot cake. I just love her little hands!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

It’s so FUN that you’re ONE!
