Caroline’s ‘In TWO the Wild’ Birthday Party

Caroline’s ‘In TWO the Wild’ Birthday Party

So we celebrated Caroline turning two with an ‘In TWO the wild’ party that was quite a grand fete! I had a great time planning this once I settled on the theme, which I selected simply because it was so fun. Toddlers wearing giraffe headbands? Um, yes please!

It was a last hurrah before I went back to work, right as Caroline ended her time at CCCC, and right before our au pair arrived. Big changes were on the horizon and I just wanted to have something fun going on. All of her besties from daycare were invited, plus a few other friends and family. All in all, we had about 50 people come and it was a ZOO. So you know–the theme was appropriate. Sugar Bear had such a fun time and so did we.

My friend Kelly came to town and she and I spent an entire naptime nailing down decorations and menu. Then over the course of the next week, I had such a fun time decorating and watching our vision come together!

We set up a Watering Hole for drinks:

My mom created the most amazing lion for the adults to enjoy. Just look at that beauty:

We tried to create “giraffes on the Serengeti” out of cheese sticks and pretzels but that was an utter Pinterest fail…

We did set out food that real animals eat: twigs, fishies, tigers, bananas for monkeys, and grubs. Tiny tigers too because who can resist these adorable little cuties?!? I also liked that these snacks were relatively healthy. Two year olds do NOT need candy and sweets to have a good time…

But in case they do, we had those options too! Mini cupcakes with safari animal toppers, delicious chocolates, and mini banana puddings with little wooden spoons and tiny Nilla wafers. I think it’s fair to say that these puddings were THE HIT of the party.

At least, the Birthday Girl would say so. She ate one thousand of them and that isn’t counting the banana pudding she ate when she helped Kay Kay make the mix!

Note that Caroline is wearing the only animal-print item she owns–so appropriate for the party!

This girl appreciates a good dessert, that’s for sure.

Finny wanted to provide a taste test, as well:

For party favors, we gave out sunglasses, animal themed bubbles, and (what else?) animal crackers!

We had twenty kids come. That’s right. Because we’re crazy. Here are a few of the mini guests:

The highlight of the party (aside from the mini ‘banana pudding for monkeys’ cups) was the game (based entirely on the game we played at Caroline’s 1st birthday party) called ‘Safari Parachute.’ It’s quite simple: all parents grab a glass of wine and the kiddos sit on the floor holding a big sheet. I have Alexa play “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and throw a stuffed elephant on the sheet. The kids make the elephant dance and think it is hilarious. They laugh and scream and squeal with delight. Parents drink their wine and watch the kiddos laughing!

You know what wasn’t a hit? Pass the parcel! Note to self: playing a game where you have to pass something you want to another person does not work for an audience whose collective favorite word is MINE. We quickly abandoned this game and went back to making the elephant dance 🙂

And then we sang Happy Birthday and blew out candles!

Caroline is a lucky little girl–she received so many adorable gifts from her sweet friends.

Happy 2nd birthday, Sugar Bear!

  1. Thanks for your write-up. What I want to comment on is that while searching for a good on the internet electronics retail outlet, look for a web site with entire information on important factors such as the privacy statement, safety details, any payment options, along with terms as well as policies. Often take time to investigate the help in addition to FAQ segments to get a greater idea of how a shop operates, what they can perform for you, and how you can make the most of the features.

  2. Interesting post right here. One thing I’d like to say is the fact that most professional job areas consider the Bachelor’s Degree as the entry level standard for an online degree. Even though Associate Degrees are a great way to begin, completing your Bachelors reveals many entrance doors to various employment goodies, there are numerous internet Bachelor Diploma Programs available by institutions like The University of Phoenix, Intercontinental University Online and Kaplan. Another issue is that many brick and mortar institutions give Online editions of their qualifications but generally for a greatly higher cost than the companies that specialize in online course plans.

  3. Thank you for another magnificent article. Where else could anyone get that type of info in such an ideal way of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I am on the look for such info.

  4. I was suggested this web site by my cousin. I am not sure whether this post is written by him as nobody else know such detailed about my trouble. You are wonderful! Thanks!
