Halloween 2018

Halloween 2018

Caroline’s second Halloween was a wonderful one! First of all, the difference between this year and last was profound–having a 19-month-old vs. a seven-month-old for this huge holiday was like night and day because, mainly, WALKING. Actually, make that RUNNING. Caroline was so excited, she literally ran from house to house. Also a factor was that when it came to trick-or-treating, Caroline “got it.” Add in the fact that this year we did NOT make a middle of the night…

Farewell Summer 2018, We Adored You

Farewell Summer 2018, We Adored You

Summer of 2018 was just so much fun. It was a perfect balance of seeing friends & family, having sunny hot days that begged for water play, and late afternoon summer storms that rolled in during family nap time and granted permission to snuggle up with books. We took advantage of our FONZ membership, great Arlington splashgrounds, nature centers, local library, live music outdoor concerts, and amazing playgrounds, all in the name of having new adventures with our little Sugar…

Welcome, Baby Eliza! Your Arrival and Sip n’ See Weekend

Welcome, Baby Eliza! Your Arrival and Sip n’ See Weekend

Monday, June 25th had been circled on my calendar since last October. October was when Joy delivered the shocking news that she was pregnant with Baby #3. Joy’s scheduled delivery date fell right after the weekend I was hosting my WAIFWYP friends for a birthday celebration. I couldn’t wait to meet the newest Roberson–and learn whether Joy was having a boy or girl! Joy had found out the genders for her other two, but had decided this baby needed to…

That Time We Drove to NJ…

That Time We Drove to NJ…

The weekend right after the 4th of July, we packed up the Kia and headed to New Jersey to visit our good friends the Littins. Caroline’s last four hour roadtrip was when she was 6 months old and we drove to Brooklyn, so Mike and I were a bit apprehensive about how our walking, busy, curious 16-month old would do in the car for 4 hours. We shouldn’t have been so worried–she did great. And in true Caroline fashion, she…

4th of July, 2018: Best. Day. Ever.

4th of July, 2018: Best. Day. Ever.

We had the greatest 4th of July this year–it’s amazing how much difference a year makes. This time last year, Caroline as just a tiny little thing and now she is a real little person with real friends who can have real fun! Mike and I kicked off the events with a Red Sox vs. Nationals game on July 3rd. We joined Mike’s sweet co-worker, her husband, and two young children, who were adorable and ridiculously well-behaved. We got a…

A Very Ruby Jubilee Celebration Weekend

A Very Ruby Jubilee Celebration Weekend

A ruby anniversary celebrates 40 years…so when you have two close friends turning 40 in the same month, it’s a ruby jubilee celebration! My WAIFWYP crew (Why Am I Friends With You People?) of rugby friends gathered in June for a weekend of eating chips n’ salsa at Guapo’s, bar hopping, dancing, and karaoke. Here are the two ruby jubilee birthday girls: Everyone gathered on Thursday night and we broke out these celebratory cups. Saturday morning was exciting because Joy…

A Rugby Kind of Weekend

A Rugby Kind of Weekend

June 2, 2018 was a big day in Washington, DC–Wales vs. South Africa in a rugby match unlike one the US has ever seen. I invited rugby friends for the occasion and we had a great time! The match was at RFK stadium, which had definitely seen better days, but we didn’t let that affect us. Mike joined us three rugby players for the match and enjoyed hearing all about how to play the sport 🙂 We got a babysitter…

Nashville Getaway Weekend

Nashville Getaway Weekend

Back in January, Mike and I planned a getaway weekend to Nashville because Mike went there a few years ago and swore I would love it–I had never been. He wanted us to go there together so badly so we had to make that happen. We flew my parents up to DC to watch Sugar Bear and I was sneaky and invited our good friends Derek and Stacy (who live in NJ) to join us for part of our trip–a…

Spa’arty in Scottsdale

What do you do when you very best college friends plan a spa trip to Scottsdale, Arizona during winter? You BOOK A TICKET and enjoy five fun-filled days with girls who know the value of laughing, drinking, and playing. So off I went. And a great time was had by all. We called it our Spa’arty. As soon as we landed, the cold winter was a distant memory and we were greeted by Arizona’s best blue skies. You know how…

Babies, Bubbly, and Brunch

Babies, Bubbly, and Brunch

We have made some wonderful baby acquaintances since our very own arrived last March, and Mike and I made a New Year’s resolution to have more people over to our house for fun events–especially those who have little ones. So fast forward to a chilly day in mid-January when we invited a small group of friends (all of whom have had babies in 2017) to join us for some old fashioned baby camaraderie, brunch foods, and (of course) champagne. We…
