Here We Come, Toddler 1!

Here We Come, Toddler 1!

On Monday, April 2, Mike and I walked into Caroline’s daycare and into the TODDLER 1 classroom. We carried 2 sippy cups: one for water, one for milk. That was it. No bottles, no breast milk (or any outside food) allowed. Caroline was dressed in her required “sturdy hard soled walking shoes” and was shown her cot (no cribs here!) where she would sleep during her ONE nap of the day. Lots of changes going from the baby room to…

Peanut, Peanut Butter

Peanut, Peanut Butter

Trying peanut butter for the first time has become a THING. At first it wasn’t a thing. And then kids everywhere got allergies. So then it was all WAIIIT until age two. No, three. Safer. Now it’s all try it right away! 4 months! 8 months! The longer you wait, the more likely they will have an allergy! Sigh. I don’t eat a lot of peanut butter and never thought to go out and buy it to conduct the “is…

Caroline at 13 Months

Caroline at 13 Months

So this little lady went and turned 13 months on the most perfect, beautiful day we have had all year. So we made the most of it 🙂 We started off by going to the Cherry Blossom Parade in DC. Caroline loved the marching bands and clapped when they played music. She had the best view because of her dad! After that, we took advantage of the 80 degree temps and brought out the baby pool I bought last summer….

An Egg-cellent Easter

An Egg-cellent Easter

This Easter was one for the books. We had a wonderful Easter weekend! I got out of work early on Good Friday and came home to spend time with this face, who was spending the day with her daddy since daycare was on Spring Break. We enjoyed a beautiful day on Saturday. Warm, sunny, and windy. We headed to a neighborhood event in the park that featured kite flying, egg rolling, giant bubble blowing fun. Afterwards, we headed to Chick…

Sugar Bear the Polar Bear

Sugar Bear the Polar Bear

The day my family flew back to Florida, the weather was cold and rainy. As the day went on, it also got colder and the wind picked up. The air smelled like snow. Then I learned that snow was in the forecast for the very next day–March 21. Up to 6 inches, in fact. We woke up the next morning to a Winter Wonderland. Add believe it or not, this was the most snow we got for the entire season….

Celebrating Caroline’s First Birthday (Week)

Celebrating Caroline’s First Birthday (Week)

When your little girl turns one on a Wednesday, you (of course) celebrate the day she arrived. And then you throw her a birthday party a few days later, on Saturday, the Official Day of Birthday Parties. But since you have family in town for a week, it winds up being more of an all-week long sort of celebration. No complaints here! Here is how the fun week broke down… Sunday: Here is Sugar Bear on Sunday (Kay Kay’s birthday!),…

Caroline’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Caroline’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Back in January, I just knew we were going to have a Classic Winnie the Pooh-themed first birthday party for Caroline. It just fit. First of all, we had been listening to the Winnie the Pooh stories on Audible for the last few months and they are fantastic. They are dramatized readings and are fabulously done. The voices! The characters! Just so good–Mike and I both adore listening to these stories. We typically listen in Caroline’s nursery as she has…

Caroline at 12 Months: Happy FIRST Birthday!

Caroline at 12 Months: Happy FIRST Birthday!

Caroline Isabella Spead turned ONE year old today. How it is possible we have a one year old?? This year flew by. It was a fantastic day. She celebrated in style with us (her parents, who both were home that day), Kay, Kay, and Pa. We started off the morning right: with a balloon drop into her crib! (Special thanks to Pa for blowing up each and every balloon the night before. A truly amazing feat!) As soon as we…

FOMO and Not Sleeping at Daycare

FOMO and Not Sleeping at Daycare

FOMO–or, as it is known in some circles, is called Fear Of Missing Out. It is a very real disease–one that I know I have, and one that I suspected Caroline has as well. Well, now I know for sure. Caroline has been in the Infant 1 room for two weeks and a day. We get a report each evening and it tells you what your child ate, their diaper activity, and how long they napped. I know Caroline’s report…
