Caroline’s First Visit to the Dentist

Caroline’s First Visit to the Dentist

At her last check up (18 months), Caroline’s pediatrician mentioned that she should see a dentist before age 2. All of her baby teeth (16!) were in and the next step would be the 2-year molars. So I added it to the “to do before baby” list and there it sat. Finally I bit the bullet, made an appointment for a kiddie dentist down the hall from her pediatrician, and set out filling in the online forms. One question (and…

Halloween 2018

Halloween 2018

Caroline’s second Halloween was a wonderful one! First of all, the difference between this year and last was profound–having a 19-month-old vs. a seven-month-old for this huge holiday was like night and day because, mainly, WALKING. Actually, make that RUNNING. Caroline was so excited, she literally ran from house to house. Also a factor was that when it came to trick-or-treating, Caroline “got it.” Add in the fact that this year we did NOT make a middle of the night…

Speady Baby #2 Update (35 weeks pregnant)

Speady Baby #2 Update (35 weeks pregnant)

Well, here we are with FIVE weeks until my due date (December 5th)! On October 22nd, Mike and I went to one of my regular check ups and then to a growth ultrasound. We learned that the baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead. At the ultrasound, the technician told us the baby was approximately 6 lbs, 6 oz. Whoa! That was with six more weeks still to go. I said, “Well, these estimates can be wildly off, right?” To which…

Boo at the Zoo!

Boo at the Zoo!

Over the weekend, we attended the National Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo event. This event is held only one weekend each October, and features “more than 40 trick-or-treat stations, animal demonstrations, and spooky, decorated trails.” Mike, Caroline, and I dressed up in our finest Star Wars costumes and added a few warm coats, because fall had come to stick around. We arrived at the zoo right before sunset and just before they opened the doors, letting the thousands of excited…

Caroline at 19 Months

Caroline at 19 Months

Caroline turned 19 months in the middle of October. It’s an important milestone because I keep thinking how she will be 20 months old when this baby gets here…and that is getting close! This age is so much fun. Her personality is developing and what I am seeing is a little girl who loves mischief, who is a tad bit Type A, who likes to take charge, who is independent, and who likes to please…unless it gets in the way…

Roman’s First Birthday

Roman’s First Birthday

Roman turned ONE on October 3rd. I feel like his first year FLEW by–even faster than Caroline’s first year. We all gathered at Lee and Raul’s house on October 6th to celebrate this little fella properly. It was a gorgeous day with minimal humidity and no chance of rain. Lee and Raul, as usual, did a fantastic job decorating their amazing backyard and incorporating the puppy “pawty” theme. Roman had a lot of baby friends come and out-of-town family show…

Tried and True: Toddler II

Tried and True: Toddler II

In mid-August, after more than a few incidents of Caroline biting her sweet classmates in her Toddler I classroom, our preschool director decided to move her into the other toddler classroom to see if that would make a difference. So we found ourselves in Toddler II, and dare I say after one month, while our little piranha hasn’t totally mended her ways, her biting incidents have greatly decreased and she does seem way more busy, happy, and stimulated in this…

Caroline at 18 Months

Caroline at 18 Months

Caroline hit the 18 month mark in mid-September. In fact, the timing was perfect because it was one day before her very first ballet class (designed for ages 1.5 to 2.5). I feel like each month with her just gets better and better, as we get to see her personality shine. She doesn’t say a lot of words, but VERY clearly conveys her points. She is fun-loving, likes to be sneaky, has a great sense of humor, and notices who…

Our Maine-i-ac Summer 2018 Vacation

Our Maine-i-ac Summer 2018 Vacation

The day finally arrived! On September 1, we headed up to Bah Hahbah Maine for our family summer vacation. For one week, we would relax, eat lobster, hike Acadia, take boat rides, and eat ice cream with our favorite people. We couldn’t wait. We had been looking forward to this trip all summer long. SATURDAY: Due to a last minute airline mess up, Caroline and I flew up to Maine in the morning and Mike joined us later that night….

Farewell Summer 2018, We Adored You

Farewell Summer 2018, We Adored You

Summer of 2018 was just so much fun. It was a perfect balance of seeing friends & family, having sunny hot days that begged for water play, and late afternoon summer storms that rolled in during family nap time and granted permission to snuggle up with books. We took advantage of our FONZ membership, great Arlington splashgrounds, nature centers, local library, live music outdoor concerts, and amazing playgrounds, all in the name of having new adventures with our little Sugar…
