Caroline at 25 Months
So Caroline turned 25 months old in mid-April. We have had a LOT going on this month–lots of changes for our little lady. I went back to work, Suelen arrived, we pulled Caroline out of daycare, and she started at a new little preschool two days a week. She has had a little bit of rough adjustment to all of these changes–we see her getting more defiant, saying NO! a lot, screaming randomly, and not sleeping as consistently. Our little pistol!
Here’s a snapshot of Caroline at 25 months:
- She looooves Suelen. She took a week to warm up to her but ever since, she is all love for her and it is so sweet.
- She seems to really miss her friends from daycare. We have gotten together a few times with them and afterwards, she says their names…”Ellie Wesley Dylan!!” It’s adorable.
- She loves the song “Open Shut them” and sings it quietly to herself all the time.
- I introduced her to the song “Peter Cottontail” a few weeks before Easter and she calls it “Hoppin Down” (as in, ‘…hoppin down the bunny trail…’) and she asks to watch the YouTube video of ‘Hoppin Down’ on my phone all the time
- She attended her first ever soccer practice! It was super muddy and she kicked the ball 2 times, asked to go on the playground 12 times, and asked to be picked up/held 45 times.
- She does NOT like going to her new preschool. We pull into the parking lot and she bursts into tears. Sigh.
- She also does not like me or Mike going to work and says “No Mommy work!” when she sees me in dress clothes. Double sigh.
- She now asks for a hug. She will say,”Mommy–hug!” and you have to give in.
- She has added more people to her random list of ‘I love yous’ that now include Finny, Matt, Tommie, Mommy, Daddy, and Baby.
- She will chase Finny down to give him a hug.
- She now will tell you what will go where–she’ll say “Water come.” Or “milk no come.”
- She never wants to go to bed and will say “no night night” the minute you suggest something as benign as eating dinner.
- She says ‘Suelen’ but it sounds more like ‘Atwater’ which makes no sense!
- We gave her a set of old keys and she loves carrying them around and putting them in her pockets.
- She totally got into the concept of Easter egg hunting this year and it was so fun! She was excited that the eggs contained cookies 😉
- She is so helpful. She loves to eat waffles each morning with me (and ‘Mommy yogurt’), she can pop them in the toaster herself, she can feed Finny herself, and she can help put baby’s paci back in.
- She is NOT GOOD at sharing. She screams, says MINE! or CARO-KINE’S! and will try to yank items out of other kids’ hands.
- She melts our hearts at night when she says “Mommy hug” and then sweetly taps our backs.
We love you Sugar Bear!
