Caroline’s Toddler Room

Caroline’s Toddler Room

Caroline has officially transitioned to her new Big Girl room! Mike and I spent the last few days of his paternity leave going to IKEA, putting together furniture, setting up the space, and putting the finishing touches on the room. Then on Sunday afternoon, we did a Big Reveal…and she loved it.

We were a tad bit worried that she would miss her old room and would keep going in there, but nope. She understood right away that the new room was hers and the old room was for the baby. And she was fine with it.

When you first walk in the room:

I loved this floral print from Target so I cut up a crib sheet and made it into the window valence covering. We also moved in her glider and wall hangings from her nursery. Mike re-hung the spice racks that hold her books. There is a lot of chevron pattern here so I think we’ll replace the bins under the bench seat with white ones.

Her dresser/changing table is on the left. Big thanks to Mike because this thing was a beast to put together! We added these paintings that were in our downstairs room since Caroline loves them so much. The baby owl lamp was an IKEA find that Caroline adores. We have to keep this dresser top pretty bare because Caroline is so long–we need to keep it functional for changing diapers for now!

Her crib on the right-hand side when you walk in the room. We left the mirror up because we love it. The bedding is from Target and we actually received it as a beautiful gift for Vivienne so we will have to replace it for her sweet nursery. It’s just so pretty and has so many colors to work with.

Her reading nook in the back right corner. I really wanted a cozy spot where Caroline could relax and read through her books. I think it’s a “she’ll grow into it” sort of area because she hasn’t been interested yet. We added the bookshelves at her height, too, for easy access.

Her dollhouse and pop-up table are next to the crib. I fell in love with this little house and knew it had to go in her room. I painted it white and added ‘wallpaper’ to it. Caroline was excited to find some of her favorite toys waiting inside the house.

This table is another great IKEA find–it folds down against the wall and pops up when you want a table. Mike mounted the dollhouse to the wall so Caroline could play with it standing up or sitting down at the little table.

The dollhouse has lots of friends inside!

And lastly, here’s her closet, with lots of storage on the left and in the center and of course the bow collection hanging for easy access!

Happy New Room, Sugar Bear!

  1. That room is perfect for little Sugar Bear. It’s so relaxing just like her last one.
