Super Bowl Love

Super Bowl Love

Patriots v. Eagles. This was the big showdown for the 2018 Super Bowl and we decided to fly Mike’s dad down from Lowell to NoVA so these two Patriots fans could watch the game together. To be honest, even though it would have been amazing to watch the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Super Bowl, I was really glad that Mike and his dad could share the experience. During last year’s Super Bowl, I know Mike was missing him when it got really exciting towards the end.

Lucky for me, this little lady helped me prep the guest room for Grandpa. Until she got distracted with a book…

Of course, the book quickly became less interesting than the water bottle on the nightstand, which she then made a beeline for. She’s quick, I tell you!

Back to the Super Bowl preparations–Mike ordered Caroline a special outfit for the big day.

We were all set! Off to get Grandpa at the airport.

Now, Mike’s dad is the sweetest man. Every time you ask him how he’s doing, his answer is “just wonderful!” Even if he is standing outside in a snowstorm in his pajamas. To him, everything is “just beautiful.” He is such an easygoing, delightful soul. He never has any agenda and is always relaxed and lives in the moment. Honestly, I think my blood pressure drops around him because he is that mellow, it rubs off on you. He also has the perfect voice to narrate books. We need to get him to record a magical Christmas book for Caroline one of these days.

We scooped him up at the airport and immediately he picked right up where he left off with Sugar Bear, who he hadn’t seen since last September when we went up to Boston. She was only 9 months old then! She immediately took to him, too.

We put Caroline’s baby jail in the middle of the room and hunkered down on Super Bowl Sunday with some chicken nachos, cold beers, and Cheerios–and watched the pre-game.

Caroline especially enjoyed playing with her new sheep friend, Daisy, who is from Ireland, while hearing all about the issues with Tom Brady’s thumb. She didn’t seem too concerned.

She also tried to escape baby jail by climbing the railing.

The game started and we put Caroline in her Patriots hat. Just like Daddy! Game Face 🙂

It was a hard game to watch for Patriots fans…whah-waaaa.

Until we got to THE HALFTIME SHOW. With JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

And then this is what happened at our house.

She LOVED the music. She loved the lights. The dancing! The excitement! This little lady was quite impressed with Mr. Timberlake and his throwback hits.

She loved the Halftime Show so much that she forgot the outfit her dad ordered for her was size 0-6 months and was 8 inches too short for her baby legs. She started waving profusely to JT like she was there, live, in the audience.

It was so fun to dance around with her. Mike loved passing along the Patriots love to his little one.

Even though the Patriots didn’t pull out a win this time around, there were no complaints at our house! Watching Caroline watch the Super Bowl was a win all around!
