A Baby Shower for Baby B :)

A Baby Shower for Baby B :)

We spent a wonderful Labor Day weekend in St. Pete Beach celebrating the best parents ever! Matt and Tommie are expecting a little one in mid-October and we celebrated them in style on the Saturday of Labor Day, despite the constant yo-yo threat of Hurricane Dorian. Turns out the hurricane was not an actual threat, which was nice, because we had a lot of fun things planned that we didn’t want to alter. Tommie’s sweet friends, Lee & Holly, and…

Memorial Day Weekend 2019

Memorial Day Weekend 2019

Memorial Day Weekend was wonderful and so much more than a weekend…we had almost a full week to celebrate the kick off of summer, enjoy time with my parents and the Betancourts, and ring in my Dad and Uncle Ed’s 70th birthdays. And celebrate we did! All week, Caroline talked about how Kay Kay and Pa were coming. Each morning she would wake up and ask, “Kay Kay Pa here?” Who could blame her? We were all excited. Here are…

Easter 2019

Easter 2019

We had a wonderful, beautiful Easter. Our Easter celebrations actually spanned two full, glorious weekends packed full of fun events. Spring has arrived in our area and we are loving the blooms, flowering trees, chirping birds, and perfect, 70 degree temperatures. I loved pulling out everyone’s spring clothes and stuffing (and hiding!) Easter baskets. We got to include Suelen and her friend in our Easter celebrations and then we closed out the wonderful weekend with family. The weekend before Easter,…

Christmas 2018

Christmas 2018

2018 Christmas was everything the holidays should be: magical, busy, chaotic, exciting, and full of family, love, and laughing. Vivienne was so new we’d decided to stay home for the holiday instead of heading to Florida like we normally do, and at the last minute, both of our families decided to join us in Virginia for Christmas. My parents arrived first–on my birthday! We had a wonderful dinner out at the Del Ray Cafe and we spent the rest of…

Roman’s First Birthday

Roman’s First Birthday

Roman turned ONE on October 3rd. I feel like his first year FLEW by–even faster than Caroline’s first year. We all gathered at Lee and Raul’s house on October 6th to celebrate this little fella properly. It was a gorgeous day with minimal humidity and no chance of rain. Lee and Raul, as usual, did a fantastic job decorating their amazing backyard and incorporating the puppy “pawty” theme. Roman had a lot of baby friends come and out-of-town family show…

Our Maine-i-ac Summer 2018 Vacation

Our Maine-i-ac Summer 2018 Vacation

The day finally arrived! On September 1, we headed up to Bah Hahbah Maine for our family summer vacation. For one week, we would relax, eat lobster, hike Acadia, take boat rides, and eat ice cream with our favorite people. We couldn’t wait. We had been looking forward to this trip all summer long. SATURDAY: Due to a last minute airline mess up, Caroline and I flew up to Maine in the morning and Mike joined us later that night….

Celebrating Caroline’s First Birthday (Week)

Celebrating Caroline’s First Birthday (Week)

When your little girl turns one on a Wednesday, you (of course) celebrate the day she arrived. And then you throw her a birthday party a few days later, on Saturday, the Official Day of Birthday Parties. But since you have family in town for a week, it winds up being more of an all-week long sort of celebration. No complaints here! Here is how the fun week broke down… Sunday: Here is Sugar Bear on Sunday (Kay Kay’s birthday!),…

Caroline’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Caroline’s Winnie the Pooh First Birthday Party

Back in January, I just knew we were going to have a Classic Winnie the Pooh-themed first birthday party for Caroline. It just fit. First of all, we had been listening to the Winnie the Pooh stories on Audible for the last few months and they are fantastic. They are dramatized readings and are fabulously done. The voices! The characters! Just so good–Mike and I both adore listening to these stories. We typically listen in Caroline’s nursery as she has…

When Kay Kay and Pa Come to Visit

When Kay Kay and Pa Come to Visit

Kay Kay and Pa came to visit for a week. They were surprised by how much Caroline had changed since Christmastime. She was more vocal, active, sturdy, and engaging…even compared to just a few weeks prior. She was pulling up on furniture more and more and getting more confident and stronger by the day. It didn’t hurt that Kay Kay kept her super busy! When Kay Kay comes to visit, you get to stay in your pajamas as long as…

Teddy Roosevelt Island

Teddy Roosevelt Island

Where do you go when you have a few hours in the afternoon of a delightful day in late January, when you just want to be outside, take a stroll, not spend a ton of money, and have a group of people (including two babies and two dogs) you are trying to accommodate? If you live in the DC area, Teddy Roosevelt Island! This lovely hidden gem along the GW Parkway is a great option for such an event. There’s…
