A Baby Shower for Baby B :)
We spent a wonderful Labor Day weekend in St. Pete Beach celebrating the best parents ever! Matt and Tommie are expecting a little one in mid-October and we celebrated them in style on the Saturday of Labor Day, despite the constant yo-yo threat of Hurricane Dorian. Turns out the hurricane was not an actual threat, which was nice, because we had a lot of fun things planned that we didn’t want to alter. Tommie’s sweet friends, Lee & Holly, and my mom all came together to make a very Tommie-esque baby shower. The decorations were gorgeous, the food was delicious, the drinks were flowing, the games were tasteful (and funny!), and every person there really had fun. Not just “I’m being polite because I should” fun, but real, genuine, “this is a great time and I am so glad I came” fun.
The theme was “minimalist bohemian tropical” which basically means simple, tasteful, elegant, and timeless. We used lots of dark and light greens, white, and pops of gold. It didn’t hurt that Tommie’s house was the perfect backdrop for this theme either!
Here is what the space looked like when it was all set up–Tasha made this amazing balloon cascade for the mantle!
The wreaths out front 🙂
The adorable diaper cake my mom made:
Lee was in charge of games and activities and they were perfect!
Everyone brought a book for Baby B:
And so so many gifts!
The party favors were mini gold champagne bottles…with beautiful tags that my mom made. We told everyone to text Matt and Tommie pictures of them popping their bottles in celebration when the baby arrived.
Everyone brought delicious food to share-the ham and biscuits were delicious, as was the breakfast casserole:
And Tasha’s gorgeous cheese and charcuterie board was stunning:
Matt set up his bar and was kept busy for the entire party…he didn’t seem to mind!
Another gorgeous Tasha add…check out those vases!
The Mom-osa bar was very appealing:
And the non-boozy drink cart out back:
The sweet desserts were also gorgeous:
Friends and family came from near and far to celebrate. I swear this is the only picture I have because I was too busy having fun to take any pictures!
Here is Tommie making her grand entrance, looking stunning as usual:
The mood was so festive and fun…the set up was easy, because everyone pitched in and we didn’t have to scramble. I would plan one million parties with these ladies. When the actual party began, we let everyone enjoy all the food (and drinks!!) then kicked off the activities and games with a really cute lullaby emoji game that Lee planned. It was hilarious to see what people came up with…let’s just say these answers were definitely champagne-inspired!
The next game was a video playback of “how well do you know your spouse?” and involved Matt. The day prior we’d interviewed Matt and Tommie separately, asking each one parenting questions. We filmed their answers, and then at the party, we made each of them guess what the other one had answered. These two did ridiculously well at guessing–it’s like they knew each other or something! 😉 It was really fun to watch–everyone was cracking up–and the competition even went into a lightning round before we just called it a tie.
Cheers to the parents-to-be!
And the best Big Brother-to-be, too!
We couldn’t be happier to watch you go from a family of three to a family of FOUR!
