Type A Team Weekend Getaway: Baltimore
Months and months ago, my group of friends decided we needed a Girls Weekend with NO BABIES and we settled on Baltimore since it was the easiest spot for everyone in terms of travel. This was my first night ever away from Vivi and while I missed her and Caroline, I needed the time away to relax, laugh, drink a LOT of wine, surround myself with truly amazing women, and return to my ordinary life feeling recharged, grateful for what I had, and inspired to be my best self.
Joy scooped me up early Saturday morning, then we made a quick stop at BWI to grab Kelly, who flew in from New Hampshire. So great seeing her on the curb! We headed to our hotel, dropped off our bags, and sent Angela this teaser so she would hurry up already and join the fun:
Well it worked! Before we knew it, all four of us were together having brunch. And mimosas. And Angela was trying the crab 🙂
Afterwards, we all got pedicures and snack from 7-11 because we are klassy like that…then we started drinking allll the wine we brought–after Angela managed to score a wine opener from the hotel bar AND somehow also acquired complimentary breakfast vouchers for the next morning?!?
These are my kind of ladies.
We wandered around the city a bit, really just enjoying the cooler temps (so perfect for humidity-adverse Kelly!!) disguising our wine in clever to-go cups. I am sure no one suspected a thing. We are incredibly subtle, as indicated in this ‘Moms Gone Wild-Baltimore Edition’ photo:
We topped off Saturday night with dinner at this ahhhh-mazing restaurant where we sampled lots of dishes AND managed to get a free bottle of wine. The sweet waiter Chris asked us if we were celebrating anything in particular. Poor Chris. All four of us threw so many answers his way, I think he decided it would be faster to just bring the wine that listen to “girl friendships! no husbands for the night! no kids! no diapers! no bath times!” And on and on…
Anyway, it was so good.
We were so full from dinner but enjoyed a lovely walk back to our hotel (with our wine roadies) and stopped in a CVS because Angela wanted chocolate for dessert. (See? Klassy.) We tried to watch Wine Country back in the room but all of us rockstars were out by midnight. It had been a DAY!
The next morning we had the luxury of sleeping in late (even though we didn’t actually do it) and getting ready slowly with zero kiddie demands. It was wonderful! We then enjoyed our free breakfast thanks to Angela and took advantage again of the gorgeous mild weather to stroll around before giving big hugs to Angela.
Kelly, Joy, and I headed home and later met up with all of the kids and husbands at the park where we told the boys our wild adventures in Baltimore and the kiddos played adorably well together. Kel came back to my house, where we grilled out and planned the future of the Democratic Party because if we don’t, who will?? Oh, and we drank more wine and Mike + Kel did her Fantasy Football draft.
Caroline was totally smitten with Kel and at some point, said to her, “you do you!” which Kelly loved. Caroline also wanted to see her first thing in the morning and gave an adorable, tiny knock on Kelly’s door to say good morning. It is so sweet watching your favorite adults fawn over your kids!
I gave Kel a big hug and dropped her off at Union Station to begin her journey home then headed in to work, refreshed after a glorious weekend away!
