Game Face: Caroline’s First Soccer Season
We made some wonderful friends when Caroline was in daycare, and we wanted to keep up our friendships with them even after we left our daycare center. So when a few parents mentioned they were signing their kiddos up for soccer, I said why not? A fun activity for Saturday mornings… I bought her a cute shirt and a tiny ball and talked it up so she would be pumped. Running! Kicking! Friends! Special shoes!
Well…this is how Caroline felt about the whole deal:
Don’t get me wrong–she liked some parts about soccer. She liked the part where you sit on your soccer chair.
And she liked the part where you carry your soccer ball like an ice cream cone:
She really liked bringing her very best Game Face to the pitch from 9 to 9:30 am every Saturday in June:
Mostly she liked dribbling the ball for a few feet and then picking it up and running with it, then throwing it as hard as she could. Future goalie??
Of course, her very favorite part was getting to play soccer with her besties (who also enjoyed Soccer Chair):
And at the end of the season, their hard work was rewarded with team shirts!
I mean. For real…arent the best friendships formed on the pitch??
Long live soccer, best buddies, and Saturday morning fun in the sun!
