Caroline at 22 Months

Caroline at 22 Months

So this little lady went right ahead and turned 22 months on us–on her Uncle Matt’s birthday, nonetheless! She has changed so much this month, turning into a little sponge. Repeating words. Telling us she can do it herself. Not wanting help. Stringing worlds together to make real sentences. Caring so much more about the people in her life. And remembering things so well!

Her new favorite line??

I DO IT!

This applies to putting on shoes. Socks. Her jacket. Brushing her teeth. Doing her hair. You name it. So yeah…that’s fun.

Other fun milestones? Our first snowfall of 2019! We got at least 8 inches so Caroline and I dragged out our sled and headed for the nearest hill.

Here’s a snapshot of Caroline at 22 months:

  • If you ask her her name, she will tell you “cock-eyed” which to her means “Caroline.”
  • She had her first haircut on December 30th and her new style looks so cute!
  • I think she said her official first full sentence this month, with “I love you baby sister.” although she says “sissy” for “sister.”
  • She has started saying “I love you.” It melts you heart, especially when she adds mommy or daddy to the end of it. Note: her “I love you” sounds a lot like “yellow.” It’s like more of a “I yuv you.”
  • She can name all of the kids in her class and it’s the cutest thing. Ellie is always first, followed by Wes and Ray Ray.
  • She started counting over the Christmas holiday and her favorite answer is TWO. She usually counts “1,2,6!”
  • If you ask her who gave her something, the answer is always Kay Kay, Pa, or Pressy.
  • She can anticipate words in songs–I have started singing BINGO to her and when I sing “There was a farmer who had a…” she will fill in “doggie!” She also fills in words when we sing Twinkle Twinkle.
  • She calls stars or lights “uppa” for “up above the world so high.”
  • She loves Elmo and Elmo’s song and will sub in mommy, daddy, and baby for “Elmo.”
  • She loves having breakfast with me at Harris Teeter in the mornings before school. We get a banana (“nana”), eggs, and 2 tater tots and now when we walk by the store she says “nana??”
  • When Vivienne cries, she points to me and says “milhhhh” as a way of telling me to feed Vivi.
  • Her current loves are: her baby, Elmo, lego duplo blocks, The Quiet Book, the Mickey Mouse book (from Pressy!), her xylophone (since Mike cut off the cord), serving everyone plastic ice cream, her light up bath cubes, dancing in circles, spinning, walking Finny, the fort and tunnel she got for Christmas, the doctor kit, and Mr. Potato Head.
  • One of her new favorite toys is a jar of sprinkles. It even came with us to breakfast one day. It is adorable but I know we are one loose cap away from an utter disaster.
  • I think we are raising a Dutch sympathizer. She loves owls and the color orange. She always selects an orange bow. After her first ever haircut, she selected an orange lollipop. She can even tell you carrots are orange. We don’t know where this came from, but it’s cute!
  • She has started having stronger opinions about clothes and on some days insists on wearing TWO bows in her hair. Bring on the toddler hair drama!
  • Next up: moving her into her Big Girl bedroom, Daddy going back to work (although Mommy is still off until April), hosting friends for a big MLK day play date, and going to Florida for vacation in February!

Happy 22 months, Sugar Bear!
