Caroline turned 20 months in the middle of November. It’s an important milestone because I keep thinking how she will be 20 months old when this baby gets here…and that is getting close! This age is so much fun. Her personality is developing and what I am seeing is a little girl who loves mischief, who is a tad bit Type A, who likes to take charge, who is independent, and who likes to please…unless it gets in the way of what she wants!

Here is a snapshot of Caroline at 20 months:

• If you ask her who she wants to see at school, she will say “Ellie!” so this picture of these lovebugs doesn’t come as a surprise!

• She loves to sit on my bump. And bounce. I don’t even need to hold her; she stays put without help because it is a perch for her (it’s that big). She will also tel you there is a baby in there.

• She is still a great eater and also LOVES to play with Luke and Toby. Here she is eating these two boys under the table one day after ballet. Do you think she likes attention?? She is probably shrieking here, given Luke’s reaction.

• She got 2 new pairs of shoes–a size 6! She loves them because they have a “bus” on them (which is really a little red wagon, but who am I to tell??)
• If you ask her how she is, or how she slept, she will say “goo” for “good.”
• Her new favorite thing is cheese. Which she calls “ghee” like the Whole 30 fake butter. She asks for ghee when she wakes up, walks by the fridge, or gets into her carseat after daycare. If she wants to really charm you and get that ghee faster, she will smile huge and rub her chest, saying “peas!” since she knows I HEART BABY MANNERS.
• There is nothing sweeter to me than hearing her (FINALLY) saying please and occasionally, even thank you. It makes a world of difference and I am willing to give her alllll the things!
• If she isn’t asking for ghee, she is demanding Elmo. We had no idea where the Elmo obsession began and I attribute it to the fact that Elmo is on her daycare bib AND the ballet class always closes out with a “parade” to the Elmo Happy Tappin’ song.
• Wheels on the Bus is OUT. Now it’s all about Elmo.
• Mike plays “this little piggy” on her toes and if you ask her about the little one, she will say “wee wee wee!”
• I sing “5 little ducks” to her in the tub and line them all up for her. She takes them down one by one during the song and it is so cute.
• She wrapped up her ballet class having learned how to walk on tippy toes, do marching feet, and most of all, JUMP. She clears the ground by about an inch and is SO VERY proud of herself for this. it’s all over her face.
• She still loves singing night night to her babies and has added bigger blankets to the routine, as well as an old teething ring and a pacifier.
• She took a step the other day without resting both feet on one step. I think it caught her off guard as much as me and she was alarmed! I am not ready for that yet 😉
• She doesn’t miss a thing. A leaf on the stairs, a wet spot on the rug (she knew Finny had an accident and wagged her finger at him saying NO!) a tiny speck of lint on the floor…she wants it cleaned up and put away!
• She is 100% independent when she feeds Finny. If Mike or I mention it, she is ON IT. And she loves washing her hands at the end.
• She loves to play in the basement and try to knock over block towers I build–especially when I try to keep her away–she is mischievous, that’s for sure! She will give big belly laughs and charge at the creations.
• She does NOT like tight pants. Or tights. Nothing restricting that big ol belly! She will point to it and say ouch.
• She now loves rubbing lotion on the big belly after bath and it is so cute. She tries to rub it in.
• We suffered through a week of diarrhea and let me just say, baby diarrhea is no joke. We went through 16 diapers on day 1 and she was screaming in pain because it hurt her bottom. Thankfully it didn’t last too long, but ouch!  The whole family suffered from this.
• Favorite books: Brown Bear Brown Bear, and the Big Sister books from Auntie Joy (she likes to pick out the babies) and all the regulars–Dear Zoo and Twinkle Twinkle.
• Favorite toys: her babies, the oatmeal tub that hold 3 decks of cards she likes to put in the slot, her little table by the window where she likes to eat waffles for breakfast and every now and then, pop over to give my leg a hug 🙂
• Next up: Thanksgiving, NEW BABY, then hosting all of our family for Christmas! We can’t wait!
